CUBY development
Architecture and urban layout and interior solution for the game-changing fast-assembly construction startup.

Third version CUBY tech includes solar panels and gravity-based energy storages to create fully solar-powered urban neighborhoods, first CUBY towns are to be implemented in Florida (under construction) and California.
CUBY is not another modular building design, this is fully innovative, market-ready construction strategy. LAYERS deisgn follows every step of CUBY town layout from master-plan and modules structure to the interior details.

Adjustable pre-designed masterplans boost design speed while grant user-friendly neghbourhood environment.

Sonoma assised living
In this design for new 26 rooms addition to existing assistant living and memory care center in the suburbs of San-Francisco, we're adressing modular approach wich will be later used for new centers. Basic value for the concept is to create rich and interactive environment, using both tactile surfaces, plants and moving sunlight.
Precise distribution of openings and sheds allowed us both to protect building core from excessive solar heating, providing it's passive cooling, and create always-changing natural lighting even in transition spaces which are usually faceless and fearfull in such kind of buildings. Lamellas we've used for pinpoint shading of rooms where its needed are also a kind of gnomones, accenting movement of sun and shadow, creating ancient greek-like galleries - stoas, which helps disabled people even with minial movement possibility to interact with green courtyards.

How to build 50 modernist villas in the light forest without one tree removal? Step one: separate each house into funtional modules smaller than average distance between trees there. Step two: create formal solution wich amplifies aestetic potetial hidden in such solution. Step three: distribute it carefully on pillars to sustain natural water flows and respect roots.

B2B project, created for metal structures fabricator who's looking for new markets, including market of prefabricated housing. In this project we saw possibility to influence mass lifestyle outside the cities by precise design of better living scenarios for compact living, and also to express some aestetic features of metal structural frame used in not so warm climate.
We've concentrated openings on the north (light only) and south (ligth and solar heat gain) facades, while long facades facing east and west are penetrated only by local windows distributed to deliver direct light according to scenarios - in particular, morning light to children's sleeping rooms.

Original feature of the project is the open frame of metal double-T beams over thedouble parking place. While most of metal structure is hidden under insulation layers, here we used thermally separated bearing contour to reveal "metal" nature of the house.

Existing building of post-soviet "sanatorium" (that means medicalised resort) has undergone natural de-contextualisation by forest overgrowing it. We finalise this decontextualisation by zooming architecture out to the overall spirit of modernist resorts of 1969-th and carefully framing each landscape view.
This project is in progerss now, but I love initial concept so much that I put it online. My work here is to finish what forest stared - decontextualisation of typical late-1960-th soviet "sanatorium".

I left existing 1,5-storey building untouched (same way as I did it in OK16 design), but put extremely active second layer over it. Wooden-frame addition, like an octopus, stretches out to reach selected views, and resulting multi-linearity slightly interacts with white box of existing building.

With a light touch of Alvar Aalto aestitics, who was a kind of benchmark for soviet modernists of late 1960-th, and whom we refer in our Repino residence design, I believe this project is what will be the outcome of soviet modernism in alternative history, where slight democratic turn in soviet society of 1960 will continue to the real democrathy.

A100 Development
This 5-houses block became the turnpint for the best among largest Belarusian residential developers. By complex elaboration of master-plan, landscape, architecture and public interiors in a strict frame of industrialised post-soviet development, we've made step beyond in the field of affordable housing, and I hope this step helped A100 to guide it's future.
Neglecting our architectural tendency to puriness, in this project we cosciousnessly took postmodernist approach, wich was necessary to overcome rotten remains of impoverished modernism wich was reigning at housing this year.

To overcome paleness of soviet palette and kitch of post-soviet, we also implemented dark grey color, which beacme the key trend in high-quality Belarusian architecture for next 10 years.

Forest IS a best place for rest, best workspace, best creative environment - you have only add some layers: walkways, wich are also seats, sheds to protect you from rain and wind, lamellas to cut out excessive sunlight form your screen. Precise mapping of each tree and bluberry bush gave me an initial form, and some form elaboration I performed to make less simpler to percieve.
After precise mapping, we've found bow-and-arrow-like clearance in the forest, wich became basic form of pavillion.

It took it's shape, wrapping such functions as auditorium (you may find this stepped form in a lot of my designs, because, after MVRDV's The Why Factory and Axel Schultes/Charlotte Frank Federal Chancellery of Germany building, I think this ancient greek-referring form became a metaphor for enlightened public discussion in any field), smaller workspaces and lodges, while other terrytory remain natural landscape with small box-like kitchen/barbewue pavillion.
