Minimalism rethinked. To create largest while leanest contemporary culture center in Eastern Europe, I took architect's decision to create no visible architecture at all and became it's director and curator. Instead of spreading budget overall the space, we've achieved goal by series of invisible interventions such as strategically placed stage lights, power sockets, new openings and cultural program precisely designed to use all the potential values of early XX-ct. industrial building.
Minimalistic approach became possible because OK16 was placed on the street wich was urban- and artistically converted by previous project I was co-curating, "Vulica Brazil".

Otherwise, practical experience of lean space adaptation was taken from my earliest project, first Minsk industiral space converted into cultural hub, ME100 ("the Place").

For long 3 years OK16 became literally place and (sometimes) literally home for young, emerging and contemporary Belarusian and global culture. 99% invisible - is perfect sence to describe OK16 architecture, while it WAS totally and throughout designed to host and intersect visions, concepts, artists, business people and general audience, creating various assemblages of them. And, despite it's complex conceprual elaboration, it wasn't high brow - it was brightest place of the city.

I'm sure, all places need such kind of lean and open spaces, designed to be multidisciplinary sensitive and collaboration-producing. Invisible architecture is what makes it happen.

Oktyabrskaya street, Minsk, Belarus
Streetart and urban installations international festival
Vulica Brasil Institute + Gio Zaborski + Lourenco Gimenes
This summer festival in Minsk started with large-sacle streetart, but over years became influeintial urban event. With oter urban activists, businesses and initiatives, we concetrated efforts on neglected industrial street, and well-balanced master-plan, flexible and leaving a lot of room for initiatives and spontaneousness, helped transform it from some lost spot into most busy and popular street in the city.

First industrial space converted into cultural and tech (hacker+maker) underground hub, my first experiment in full circle placemaking from scratch to operational management (this one step was, sure, screwed) - it gave me huge spatial and management experience.
Extremely lean, while creative, soviet warehouse transformation was based on the use of an obstacle as a feature. Impossible to remove, 100-tonns storage structures were used as a spatial mesh, in wich voids we needed were carved as caves.
